Whale Craft Stick Project

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Gather your supplies and protect your workspace.

Step 2: Paint and Cut the Sticks

Paint three of the sticks blue. Let them dry all the way…yes, all the way. Patience is a virtue. (Or just hit them with a hair dryer.)

Cut one of the painted sticks in half. This will create the whale’s signature step-like forehead.

Step 3: Build the Whale Body

Lay the unpainted stick and the remaining full-length blue stick horizontally, then glue the three shorter pieces on top to form a blocky curve. This is your whale’s noggin.

Step 4: Cut the Paper Pieces

Cut out the tail, a top fin, and a side fin from the blue construction paper. Then cut a small white circle for the eye.

Step 5: Add the Fins, Tail and Eye

Glue the tail to the back of your whale, the top fin on the top edge, and the side fin tucked underneath. Add your white circle eye.

Step 6: Draw the Face

Use a black marker to draw a happy little smile and a dot in the eye. Go for whale-y cheerful.
