Mermaid Alphabet Coloring Sheets
Inside: Summer alphabet practice with creative mermaid alphabet coloring sheets.
Welcome to day 2 of my 10 Days of Summer Printables for Preschoolers!
Today, I am excited to be sharing with you my mermaid themed alphabet printable for learning and practicing the alphabet. I love putting these in front of my kids so they look at the letters, draw them underneath the coloring sheet, and be exposed to letters in different ways.

What You Need to Use Your Summer Alphabet Coloring Sheets
-The free printables (OF COURSE!)
–A laminator– You want to keep these printables around as long as you can, so I recommend laminating the pages so you can get the most use out of these printables. I love that we can write all over them and then just erase them after and use them again tomorrow– Or with the next kid!
–Page Protectors– I use page protectors to keep all of the pages together, since it is an alphabet set, after all! To keep it all together, I can't recommend page protectors and a good three ring binder enough.
–Markers – There are lines underneath each drawing for kids to write the letter they see.
-Pencil Pouch for Binders– I use these to hold all of the loose ends, so for this project, I keep all of the colors of the markers together.

How to use Summer Coloring Pages for Preschoolers Learning
Coloring pages are for fun. These little cuties are mermaids (or sharks, if your kid digs sharks!) and alphabet! The main way to enjoy this set is to print off one or all of them, and let them color these sheets. With the lines underneath, I usually have my children draw the letters they found in the picture.
Adapt Summer Coloring Pages Printable For Younger Kids
To make this work for younger kids, I have them choose and name a color they will color the letter with. Another cute way to use this printable is to write the letter on the lines yourself, and have your child trace them.
You can also place a few page down on the table and have your child identify one of the letters.
Can you show me the N?
Adapt Summer Coloring Page Printable For Older Kids
For older kids, I still let them color but if they'd like a challenge I have them name the letter animal something that starts with the letter it represents.
So if it's a B, I have my child name it something that begins with the letter B.
If this isn't enough, I also give them a sheet (or they write on the back) a story about their character, or what their favorite things are.
“Berma likes to eat tiny toes and seaweed. His best friend is a turtle names Fred.” It's so silly what my kids have come up with about their little sea friends.
My oldest son also loves drawing, so these sea animal letter printables are just enough to get his creative juices flowing, and he will go off and draw some other animal as letters.

Other Ways to Learn with These Summer Alphabet Letter Coloring Pages
Another way to learn with these printables is talking about each letter.
-What sounds does A make?
-What word starts with P?
-What animal begins with the F?
What Will Kids Learn?
The thing I love about introducing learning concepts into coloring pages is they don't even realize they're learning. They just enjoy coloring.
Here they'll be exposed to letters more. My son was very hesitant to learn how to read, so we tried to introduce letters to him whenever we could in every way we could think of. Coloring pages is just another avenue to take to get them comfortable around the alphabet.
