How to Make a Paper Plate Octopus Craft

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies
Get everything from the list above within arm's reach before you dive in.
Step 2: Paint the Plate
Paint the outside of the plate purple and let it dry, adding a second coat if needed.

Step 3: Fold and Cut the Plate
Fold the bottom edge of the plate up to the inner circle, crease firmly, and cut along the fold.

Step 4: Cut the Tentacles
Print the octopus patterns, then trace and cut eight tentacles from purple cardstock.

Step 5: Space Out the Tentacles
Dry fit the eight tentacles evenly around the bottom edge of the plate, then glue them in place. Dry-fitting first makes it much easier to get even spacing before any glue commits you.
Step 6: Stamp the Suckers
Dip the eraser end of a pencil into light purple paint and stamp suckers down the length of each tentacle, then let dry.

Step 7: Add the Eyes
Add the wiggle eyes to the octopus's face.

Step 8: Stamp On Cheeks
Dab pink paint onto the sponge and stamp cheeks on either side of the face, then let dry.

Step 9: Draw the Smile
Finish with a black marker smile from cheek to cheek.
All done!
Your paper plate octopus is ready to swim!
