Crab Handprint Craft
This crab handprint craft is giving major beach day energy, minus the sand in your shoes. It’s cute, simple, and full of personality (just like the kids making it). Whether you’re in full-on summer theme mode, teaching about ocean animals, or just need a quick “please stop asking for another snack” activity, this cheerful little crab is here for you.
You only need a few basic supplies, and the best part? No paint, no glitter, no cleanup that ends with vacuuming glue out of your hair. Just some paper, scissors, and your kid’s tiny handprints.
What You'll Need for This Handprint Crab Craft
You don’t need a beach bag full of art supplies for this one. Just grab these from your stash, and you’re all set:
- Red construction paper
- White paper
- Black marker
- Glue stick
- Scissors
- Pencil
And if you're working with more than one kid? Double up on everything…trust me, it avoids the “But I wanted the red paper first!” drama.

Keep It Going!
Want to add even more flair? You could give your crab polka dots, blushy cheeks, a tiny bowtie, or a party hat. Mine got a name (Mr. Crabbington) and was immediately put in charge of snack time. These things happen.
Display it on the fridge, add it to a summer bulletin board, or turn it into a puppet with a craft stick glued to the back. Better yet? Make a whole crab family. Cousins, a grandma crab, the whole undersea crew.
Why This Craft is a Keeper
It's low-prep, low-mess, and high on giggles. Plus, you’re sneaking in some fine motor practice with cutting, gluing, tracing, all disguised as pure fun. And in the end, you get a keepsake with your kid’s handprints that’s way cuter than the crumpled artwork you keep finding under the couch.
So if you're looking for something playful and easy to pull off, this little crab is definitely the catch of the day.
