Elephant Handprint Craft
Need an activity that keeps tiny hands busy and ends in something ridiculously adorable? This elephant handprint craft is here to save the day (and your sanity). No paint. No glitter explosions. No glue in your hair. Just paper, scissors, and a few squeals of excitement.
We whipped this up with construction paper, a free printable template, and a whole lot of giggles. And it’s not just cute, it’s a sneaky way to build fine motor skills while pretending your elephant’s name is something like Sir Stomp-a-lot or Peanut Wiggletrunk. (Yes, that happened.)
Whether you’re doing a zoo theme, working your way through the jungle, or just want to make something frame-worthy before lunch, this one’s a winner.

Learning and Play Ideas
This isn't just a fun craft, it’s a sneaky way to support your child’s learning too. While you're tracing, cutting, and gluing, your kiddo is working on:
- Fine motor skills (hello, scissor control!)
- Spatial awareness
- Following step-by-step instructions
- Expressing creativity and personal flair
And if you want to make it even more educational? Pair this with a read-aloud like “Elephants Cannot Dance” by Mo Willems or “If I Were an Elephant” and talk about what real elephants eat, where they live, and how they use their trunks like built-in tools.
Have your child name their elephant (we had one named Mr. Boogersnack) and make up a story about what jungle adventures they go on next. Add a little writing prompt or turn it into a puppet for storytelling time, your call!
