How to Make a Paper Plate Scarecrow Craft

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies
Get everything from the list above within arm's reach before you dive in.
Step 2: Paint the Plate
Paint the outside of the plate tan and let it dry, adding a second coat if needed.

Step 3: Cut the Hat, Flower, and Hair
Print the scarecrow patterns, then trace and cut a hat from dark brown cardstock, a flower from golden yellow cardstock, and a hat band and nose from orange cardstock. Cut 12 thin strips of light yellow cardstock for hair.

Step 4: Attach the Hair
Glue six hair strips to the back left side and six to the back right side of the hat.

Step 5: Add the Eyes and Nose
Add the wiggle eyes and the orange nose to the plate.

Step 6: Attach the Hat and Band
Glue the hat, hair and all, onto the top of the scarecrow's head, then attach the hat band across it.

Step 7: Stamp On Cheeks
Dab pink paint onto the sponge and stamp cheeks on either side of the face, then let dry.

Step 8: Draw the Stitched Mouth
Draw a smile from cheek to cheek with the black marker, then add small vertical stitch lines across the mouth for a burlap look. It's a small detail but it's what gives this scarecrow real character, so take your time on it.

Step 9: Attach the Button
Glue the black button to the center of the golden yellow flower.

Step 10: Attach the Flower
Finish by gluing the flower onto the scarecrow's hat.
All done!
