How to Make a Paper Plate Leaf Gnome Craft

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Gather your supplies and clear a workspace, this is a good one to do over a wipeable table or some newspaper.

Step 2: Paint the First Plate

Paint the outside of one plate light orange and let it dry.

Step 3: Add Paint Dots

Squeeze dots of medium and dark orange paint onto the inside of a second plate.

Step 4: Press the Plates Together

Press the dry light orange plate face down on top, rub firmly all over, and peel the plates apart.

Step 5: Reveal the Texture

Your plate now has a mottled, leaf-like texture. Save the second plate for another project.

Step 6: Trace the Leaf

Print the leaf pattern and trace the oak leaf shape onto the textured plate.

Step 7: Cut the Leaf

Cut out the leaf.

Step 8: Trace the Gnome Pieces

Trace the gnome body onto dark brown cardstock, the nose onto tan, the hat band onto burgundy, and the flower onto golden yellow.

Step 9: Cut the Gnome Pieces

Cut out all of the gnome pieces.

Step 10: Attach the Beard

Glue the leaf onto the gnome body as the beard, leaving the top edge of the leaf unglued so it has a little lift.

Step 11: Attach the Hat Band and Button

Glue the burgundy hat band just above the top of the beard, and glue the black button to the center of the flower.

Step 12: Attach the Nose and Flower

Attach the tan nose to the top center of the beard.

Glue the flower to the gnome’s hat.

All done!
