Take It a Step Further…

If your child is in the mood to keep the sunshine rolling, here are a few extra ideas to stretch this into an afternoon of learning and laughter:

  • Make a weather wall: Add clouds, raindrops, and rainbows using construction paper and tape. Hang it all up for a DIY weather station.
  • Sun science time: Chat about how the sun gives us light and warmth. Or introduce the idea of shadows and try a quick shadow-tracing activity.
  • Write a sunshine poem: “My sun wears shades and smiles all day…” Let your child dictate a goofy little rhyme to go with the craft.
  • Emoji vibes: Let your kid make a whole set of handprint suns with different facial expressions…grumpy sun, sleepy sun, silly sun…you name it.
