Paper Plate Bat Craft
Make this adorable paper plate bat craft with your kids! A fun and easy Halloween activity using paint, paper, and googly eyes that’s more silly than spooky.
Materials
- Paper plate
- Black paint
- Pink paint
- White paper
- Black paper
- Googly eyes
- Black marker
- White paint marker (or crayon/colored pencil if you prefer)
- Glue or hot glue gun
Tools
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
- Paint dauber
Instructions
- Gather your supplies. This is your bat-building toolkit — think of yourself as a mad scientist, but with googly eyes instead of lightning bolts.
- Paint the entire paper plate black and let it dry. Your bat’s face needs to be nice and spooky. (Or cute-spooky. The best kind of spooky.)
- While the plate dries, grab your templates and trace bat wings and ears onto black construction paper. Then cut them out. This is when your bat really starts to come to life!
- Cut out two little triangles from white paper for your bat’s fangs. Because what’s a bat without some teeth?
- Glue your googly eyes onto the bat’s face. Big eyes, small eyes, mismatched eyes — you do you.
- Dip into the pink paint and add two circles for cheeks. Suddenly, your bat has gone from “creature of the night” to “adorable Halloween buddy.”
- Flip your paper plate over and glue on the wings and ears. Pro tip: make sure the wings are pointing outwards and not… well… into the bat’s face.
- Flip it back around and use your white paint marker to draw a big, happy grin. Your bat might technically be nocturnal, but who says it can’t smile in the daytime?
- Glue on those fangs right under the smile.
- Step back, admire your creation, and maybe give your bat a spooky little name like Fangy McCuteface.
