Step-by-Step Christmas Window Popsicle Stick Instructions
This project comes together in layers, which makes it easy to pause between steps and let pieces dry as needed.
Step 1: Gather your supplies
Lay out all of your materials so everything is easy to reach while you work.
Step 2: Build the window frames
Line up four jumbo craft sticks into a square. Glue the corners together to form the window frame.
To create the window panes, glue two jumbo craft sticks together in a cross shape.
Tip: Liquid craft glue works, but it will need extra drying time.
Step 3: Attach the window panes
Glue the craft stick cross to the center of the window frame square.
Step 4: Paint the window frames
Basecoat the windows with brown acrylic craft paint. Let them dry completely, then add a second coat if needed.
Step 5: Paint the stars
Basecoat the wooden stars with yellow acrylic craft paint. Allow them to dry and apply a second coat if necessary.
Step 6: Trace and cut the patterns
Download, print, and cut out the patterns. Trace the window pattern twice onto red cardstock. Trace the Christmas tree pattern once onto bright green cardstock and once onto medium green cardstock.
Cut out all pieces, trimming just inside the pencil lines for clean edges.
Step 7: Attach the trees to the backgrounds
Glue both Christmas trees onto the red cardstock window bases using a glue gun.
Step 8: Add the cardstock inserts
Flip the craft stick windows over and glue the cardstock inserts into place on the back.
Step 9: Decorate the trees
Decorate both Christmas trees with assorted self-adhesive rhinestones to create ornaments.
Tip: Beads, buttons, sequins, or shapes made with paper punches also work well here.
Step 10: Add the stars
Glue a wooden star to the top of each Christmas tree.
Step 11: Add sparkle
Outline or decorate the stars with gold glitter glue. Let everything dry completely.
Step 12: Display
