Looking for something fun to do with your preschooler that doesn’t involve glitter explosions or impossible instructions? This snowman handprint craft is winter magic at its simplest, tiny hands, a little glue, and a whole lot of cozy memories.

It’s the kind of project that ends with a fridge full of smiles and maybe a sticky table (we’ll call that a bonus). So if you’re home on a chilly afternoon, dodging the cold, and need something easy and adorable to do together, this little snowman buddy is it.

Let’s roll up our sleeves (and maybe grab a wet wipe or two) and jump in.

What You’ll Need for This Handprint Snowman Craft

  • White construction paper (or plain old printer paper)
  • Colored paper: black for the hat, red for the hat band, orange for that classic carrot nose
  • Glue stick or school glue
  • Black marker
  • Scissors (kid-safe)

Optional but fun:

  • Glitter, sequins, or mini pom-poms for flair
  • Stickers or scrap fabric for extra snowman style
  • Washable paint if you’re brave and want to stamp that handprint instead of tracing

Pro tip: Don’t overthink the supplies. Grab what you’ve got, swap what you don’t, and let your kiddo’s creativity do the rest.

Show It Off

When it’s dry, proudly hang that snowman on the fridge, in the window, or tape it to the bathroom mirror just to surprise people.

Or turn it into a card! Grandparents love handmade snowmen almost as much as they love photos of your kid doing anything remotely cute.

If you want to save it forever (and you will), pop it in a memory box or slip it into a page protector in your keepsake binder.

Want to Take It Further?

One snowman is great, but what about a whole snowman parade? Here’s how to keep the creativity going:

  • Make one every year and watch those little hands grow
  • Let siblings or friends make their own and hang them up as a snow-family
  • Use them to tell a winter story (Snowman lives in a marshmallow igloo and drinks cocoa, obviously)
  • Pair with a snowy read-aloud and let the craft be part of the storytelling
