Step-by-Step Christmas Door Popsicle Stick Craft Instructions

This craft comes together in simple stages, and each step adds a little more personality to the doors. It works well as a guided craft or an open-ended activity where kids can take their time with details.

Step 1: Gather your supplies

Gather all supplies and set up your work surface so everything is ready to go before you begin. This makes the rest of the craft feel relaxed and easy to follow.

Step 2: Build the craft stick doors

To create each door, line up five jumbo craft sticks side by side on your work surface. Trim two regular craft sticks to width and glue them across the back using a glue gun and glue sticks.

Step 3: Paint the doors

Basecoat one door with red acrylic craft paint and the other door with bright green acrylic craft paint. Let them dry completely, then add a second coat if needed for bold, even color.

Step 4: Measure the mail slots

Using a pencil and ruler, measure two rectangles on gray cardstock. Each rectangle should be 1.5 inches long and 0.5 inches wide.

Step 5: Cut and label the mail slots

Cut out the rectangles, making sure to cut inside the traced lines for a clean finish. With a fine tip black marker, outline the left, bottom, and right edges, then write the word MAIL in the center.

Step 6: Make the wreaths

Wrap a faux pine greenery stem around the base of a bottle of acrylic paint. Twist the ends together at the top to secure the shape. This creates a perfectly sized wreath for the doors.

Step 7: Tie the ribbon bows

Tie skinny red and bright green ribbon into small bows. Trim the ends so they look neat and even.

Step 8: Assemble the doors

Use a glue gun to attach the wreaths to the doors. Glue the red bow onto the wreath on the green door and the green bow onto the wreath on the red door.

Attach a self-adhesive gold pearl to each door to create the doorknob. Glue the mail slots to the bottom center of each door to finish the look.
