Helpful Supplies for This Gingerbread Dice Game
This printable is so bright and happy and colorful. I HIGHLY suggest getting everything together the night before to avoid the chaos of trying to cut out pieces with little hands grabbing at everything they can. They will be excited, so make sure you help them by preparing for this craft beforehand.
So I like to get all of the laminating and cutting out of the way before I bring this out to them. I love using a divided plate to keep all the pieces together but also separated, like this one:
If you're doing these at home or in the classroom, I recommend getting everything put together the night before.
You can also use these as play doh mats, and have your child create their gingerbread pieces with play doh.
Here is the list of everything you need to get started today:
-The printable (OF COURSE!) grab it here: Gingerbread Man Dice Game Craft.
–A laminator– If you want to keep these printables around as long as you can, so I recommend laminating the pages so you can get the most use out of them. This is especially important for the gingerbreadman base!
-Scissors- You'll need scissors if you're letting your child pick their pieces and cut them out independently. If you're cutting out the pieces yourself no need to worry about adding scissors here!
-Zipper Pouch or Task Card Box – This is a great place to hold all the pieces together.

How to Use This Christmas Dice Game
This game is a silly and fun activity that will result in your child having a cute craft they can keep after.
If you have a laminator available, I love laminating these after, so kids can play with them without risking pieces falling off (and then of course meltdowns happening). I also love laminating the gingerbread base if we use it for play doh fun. This helps make sure the pieces don't stick to the paper and ruin both.
Print off everything, and cut out the gingerbread base, buttons, eyes, mouths, hats and scarves. Then separate the pieces so they can easily grab one from each pile for their gingerbread man craft.
Roll a dice, and then do as the directions say, pick a body, eyes, mouth, buttons, hat or scarf, depending on what you rolled.
To make this a game, have children race to see who can complete their gingerbread man first. You could also use it as a craft, and have them add their own flair to each gingerbread man. The choice is yours.
For task boxes, you can print them all, laminate, cut them out, hole punch, and store them in the boxes with all the pieces included.

What Benefits does this Dice Game Have For Kids?
The most obvious benefit of dice games is learning to quickly and easily recognize what number they have rolled, then look on a paper and see the same number, and do a task based on that number recognition.
This means, put simply, your child will be able to recognize numbers, as well as perform two step directions.
Other Fun Ways to Use This Gingerbread Man Game for Kids
You can make these work younger kids by making it a play doh craft. Give them a gingbread body, and let them create their own craft.
Another fun thing to do with these is cut up some shapes out of construction paper, and have your child create a gingerbread man out of the shapes, then record how many of each they used.
For a more challenging activity, create your own gingerbread man craft, and have them try to make one that looks exactly the same on their own gingerbread man.
You can also use these as a directed drawing type learning game. Tell them what to do in steps, pick a gingerbread body, pick eyes, pick a mouth, pick buttons, a hat, and a scarf. You will still get different results for each student, but this way you can practice with following directions.
