How to Make a Paper Plate Raccoon Craft

With the prep done, here's how the rest comes together.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Pull everything from the list above before you start so you're not hunting for scissors mid-craft.

Step 2: Paint the Plate

Paint the outside of the plate gray and let it dry, adding a second coat if needed.

Step 3: Trace the Eye Mask

Print the raccoon patterns, then trace the eye mask shapes onto the left and right sides of the plate with a pencil.

Step 4: Paint the Eye Mask

Paint the eye mask shapes black and let dry, adding a second coat if needed.

Step 5: Cut the Nose and Ears

Trace and cut a nose and two outer ears from black cardstock, and two inner ears from pink cardstock.

Step 6: Attach the Ears

Glue the inner ears onto the outer ears, then attach them to the back of the raccoon's head.

Step 7: Attach the Nose and Eyes

Attach the nose and the wiggle eyes to the raccoon's face. Let the black mask paint dry completely first, or the eyes tend to slide on wet paint.

Step 8: Stamp On Cheeks

Dip a medium sponge dabber into pink paint and stamp cheeks on either side of the nose.

Step 9: Draw the Smile

Finish with a black marker smile from cheek to cheek.
