Leprechaun Paper Plate Craft

Materials for This Leprechaun Paper Plate Craft
Most of the supplies for this St. Patrick’s Day paper plate craft can be found right in your craft stash or at the dollar store.

- Paper Plate
- Wiggle Eyes
- Pom Pom, – Tan
- Glitter Glue – Orange
- Craft Paint – Flesh tone color of choice, Orange
- Cardstock – Bright Green, Medium Green, Black, Yellow, Orange
- Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Patterns
Once everything is ready, it’s time to transform that paper plate into a lucky little leprechaun!
How to Make This Paper Plate Leprechaun Craft
This craft comes together in just a few simple steps and is perfect for practicing cutting and gluing skills.
Step 1: Gather Your Supplies
Gather all supplies needed to create the leprechaun paper plate craft. Having everything ready before starting will help the project go smoothly.
Step 2: Download and Prepare the Pattern
Download and print the Leprechaun patterns. Trace the beard and face pattern onto the inside of the paper plate using a pencil.
Step 3: Paint the Leprechaun’s Face
Basecoat the face on the inside of the paper plate with a flesh tone color of your choice using acrylic craft paint. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat if necessary.
Step 4: Paint the Leprechaun’s Beard
Basecoat the beard section on the inside of the paper plate with orange acrylic craft paint. Allow it to dry and apply a second coat if needed.
Step 5: Trace the Cardstock Pieces
Trace the hat once onto medium green cardstock, the mustache once onto orange cardstock, the hat band once onto black cardstock, the shamrock once onto bright green cardstock, and the buckle once onto yellow cardstock with a pencil.
You could also use construction paper, colored craft foam, or craft felt for this project.
Step 6: Cut Out the Patterns
Cut out the patterns with scissors, making sure to cut inside the traced lines for a clean finished project.
Step 7: Attach the Facial Features
Attach two wiggle eyes and the mustache to the leprechaun’s face with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Tip: You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will have to wait for it to dry.
Step 8: Assemble the Leprechaun Hat
Glue the buckle to the hat band and the hat band with buckle to the hat. Then attach the hat to the top of the leprechaun’s head with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Step 9: Add Glitter Details
Attach a brown pom pom to the center of the mustache to create a nose for the leprechaun.
Then accent the leprechaun’s mustache and beard with swirls of orange glitter glue. Let the glitter glue dry completely. You could also use clear or iridescent glitter glue.
Step 10: Attach the Shamrock
To finish the craft, attach the bright green shamrock to the leprechaun’s hat with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Then hang you finished leprechaun craft up on display!
