How to Make a Leprechaun Legs Paper Plate Craft

Follow these simple steps to create your own festive St. Patrick’s Day decoration.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Gather all supplies needed for the project and prepare your workspace so everything is within reach.

Step 2: Download and Print the Patterns

Download and print the Leprechaun Legs patterns. Cut out the pattern pieces with scissors. Trace the leprechaun hat onto the outside of a paper plate and cut it out with scissors.

Step 3: Paint the Hat

Basecoat the outside of the paper plate with medium green acrylic craft paint. Allow the paint to dry completely and apply a second coat if necessary for full coverage.

Step 4: Trace the Pattern Pieces

Using a pencil, trace the shoes twice and the hat band once onto black cardstock. Trace the hat brim once and the sock stripes four times onto medium green cardstock. Trace the shamrock once and the pant legs twice onto bright green cardstock. Trace the legs twice onto white cardstock and the hat buckle once onto yellow cardstock.

Step 5: Cut Out the Pieces

Cut out all patterns with scissors, making sure to cut inside the traced lines for a clean, finished project.

Step 6: Assemble the Legs

Attach the stripes and shoes to the legs using a glue gun and glue sticks, then attach the legs to the pants. Glue the buckle to the center of the hat band.

Tip: You can also use liquid craft glue for this project, but you will need to allow extra drying time.

Step 7: Add the Hat Band

Glue the hat band to the rounded edge of the hat base.

Step 8: Attach the Legs

Attach a jumbo craft stick to the back of each leprechaun leg using a glue gun and glue sticks. Glue the leprechaun legs to the top of the sticks.

Step 9: Attach the Details

To finish the craft, attach the hat band with buckle and the shamrock to the paper plate hat using a glue gun and glue sticks.

All done!

Then hang your finished craft up for all to see!
