How to Make a Paper Plate Uncle Sam Legs Craft

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Gather your supplies and clear a workspace, this is a good one to do over a wipeable table or some newspaper.

Step 2: Paint the Plate

Paint the outside of the plate red and let it dry, adding a second coat if needed.

Step 3: Cut the Hat Shape

Print the patterns, trace the hat shape onto the painted plate, and cut it out.

Step 4: Cut the Legs and Stars

Trace and cut two shoes from black cardstock, a hat brim from blue cardstock, six sock stripes from red cardstock, two legs and three stripes from white cardstock, and five stars from silver glitter craft foam.

Step 5: Assemble the Legs

Glue the sock stripes and shoes onto the legs, then attach the finished legs to the hat brim.

Step 6: Attach the Brim

Glue the hat brim to the narrower edge of the red hat, then add the three white stripes to the hat.

Step 7: Add the Puppet Sticks

Attach a jumbo craft stick to the back of each leg, these are what turn the finished craft into a puppet, so leave room for kick-around play once the glue sets.
