How to Make a Popsicle Stick Spider

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Gather your supplies.

Step 2: Paint the Sticks

Paint all four jumbo craft sticks black on both sides. Let them dry fully before moving on (this is a great time for snack breaks or spider trivia).

Step 3: Glue the Body Together

Line up the four sticks side-by-side and glue them together into a rectangle. This will be your spider’s chunky little body.

Step 4: Cut the Legs

Cut eight thin strips of black construction paper, about 4–5 inches long, for the legs.

Step 5: Fold the Legs

Bend each leg in two places so it has spidery joints.

Step 6: Attach the Legs

Flip the body over and glue four legs on each side, fanning them out like it’s ready to scurry.

Step 7: Add the Eyes

Cut or punch three small white circles for eyes and glue them near the top front of the body.

Step 8: Draw the Pupils

Use your black marker to dot in the pupils.

Step 9: Add the Fangs

Cut two tiny white triangles for fangs and glue them underneath the eyes. Add a little mouth if your spider’s feeling extra expressive.

All done!

Your not-so-scary spider is ready to crawl!
