How to Make a Paper Plate Gratitude Tree Craft

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Gather everything on the list above before you start.

Step 2: Paint the Paper Plate

Paint the outside of the paper plate dark orange. Let it dry and add a second coat if needed.

Step 3: Trace the Patterns

Print the gratitude patterns and cut them out. Trace the tree once onto brown cardstock and the banner once onto ivory cardstock. Trace one of the five leaf shapes 2-3 times each onto orange, yellow, green, burgundy, and tan cardstock. You could also use colored craft foam, construction paper, or felt. Tip: Trace your child's hand and arm for the tree to make a keepsake.

Step 4: Cut Out the Pieces

Cut out the tree, banner, and leaves, cutting just inside the traced lines for a clean finish.

Step 5: Add the Details

Using the photo as a guide, outline and draw veins on each leaf with a matching washable marker. Draw bark lines on the tree with a brown marker.

Step 6: Attach the Tree

Glue the tree trunk onto the paper plate with the glue gun. Tip: You can use liquid craft glue instead, but you will have to wait for it to dry.

Step 7: Write on the Leaves

On each leaf, write one thing you are grateful for with a black marker.

Step 8: Add the Leaves

Glue the leaves all around the tree.

Step 9: Letter the Banner

Outline the banner with a black marker and write the word Gratitude across it.

Step 10: Add the Banner

Finish by gluing the banner onto the tree trunk.

All done!

All done! Your gratitude tree is ready to display!
