How to Make a Paper Plate Thanksgiving Owl Craft

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Grab everything on the list above and lay it out, this one moves fast once you get started.

Step 2: Paint the Plates

Paint the outside of both plates medium brown and let them dry, adding a second coat if needed.

Step 3: Trace the Pieces

Print the owl patterns, then trace two wings and an ear shape onto the second brown plate, a beak and two talons onto golden yellow cardstock, and three feathers and two eye circles onto tan cardstock.

Step 4: Cut Everything Out

Cut out all the pieces.

Step 5: Attach the Ears

Glue the ears to the top edge of the first plate.

Step 6: Attach the Eyes and Beak

Attach the wiggle eyes to the tan eye circles, then glue the eyes to the owl's face and the beak just underneath.

Step 7: Add the Chest Feathers

Glue the three rows of feathers to the owl's chest in a staggered pattern, then trim off any excess hanging past the plate's edge. Staggering these rows takes a little patience, so it's worth slowing down on rather than rushing through.

Step 8: Attach the Wings

Attach the wings to the right and left sides of the owl.

Step 9: Attach the Talons

Glue the talons to the bottom center edge of the plate.

Step 10: Add the Nostril Details

Finish by drawing two small ovals at the top center of the beak with the black marker.

Then hang your finished owl up on display!

All done!

Your paper plate owl is ready for Thanksgiving!
