Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Gather your supplies and measure out your ingredients.

Step 2: Brew the Green Tea

Bring fresh, filtered water just to a boil. Place 1–2 green tea bags in a cup, pour the hot water over them, and let them steep for 3–5 minutes. Steep closer to 5 minutes for a stronger scent.

Step 3: Add the Flour

Add 1/2 cup of flour to a mixing bowl.

Step 4: Add the Salt

Add 1/4 cup of salt and stir it into the flour.

Step 5: Pour in the Green Tea

Gradually stir in 1/4 cup of the steeped green tea while it’s still warm.

Step 6: Add the Oil

Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and mix until the dough starts to clump together.

Step 7: Add the Tea Leaves

Carefully cut open 1–2 green tea bags with scissors and add the loose tea leaves. They’ll give the dough a speckled, earthy texture that looks and feels amazing.

Step 8: Knead the Dough

Knead everything together until the playdough forms. If it’s too sticky, slowly add a little more flour. If it’s too stiff, add a little more steeped tea or water.

All done!

Then play!

Storing Your Green Tea Playdough

Keep your green tea playdough in an airtight container or zip-top bag in a cool, dry place so it stays soft and fragrant. If it starts to dry out, knead in a few drops of water or steeped tea to revive it.
