Step 4: Cut out the shapes
After tracing, use the scissors to cut out the shapes from the construction paper. Make sure to assist your preschooler with cutting if needed for safety.

Step 5: Outline the shapes
With the black marker, outline the edges of each cut-out shape. This step helps to give the lamp craft a more defined and finished look.

Step 6: Build the lamp
Take the brown rectangle cut-out and lay it flat. Explain to your child that this will represent the lowercase ’l’.
Use glue to attach the yellow lampshade to the top of the brown rectangle. Then, glue the yellow base to the bottom. Now, the shape is starting to look like a lamp!
To add a final touch, glue a small yellow piece to the end of a short strip of white paper. This will be the pull for the lamp. Attach it to the side of the lampshade. Once everything is dried hang your lamp up for all to see!
