Step-by-Step Peppermint Tea Playdough Recipe

Before you start, brew the tea. Heat about one cup of water to a gentle boil, pour it over two peppermint tea bags (tea with real peppermint leaves gives the strongest scent), and let them steep for 5–10 minutes. Remove the tea bags and let the tea cool to room temperature so it doesn’t affect the dough.

Step 1: Add the Flour

Add 1/2 cup of flour to a large mixing bowl.

Step 2: Add the Salt

Add 1/4 cup of salt and mix the dry ingredients together. This forms the base of your dough.

Step 3: Add the Oil

Pour in 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil.

Step 4: Pour in the Peppermint Tea

Gradually add the cooled peppermint tea. Start with 1/4 cup, stirring as you pour, and adjust as needed.

Step 5: Sprinkle in the Tea Leaves

Sprinkle in the contents of 1–2 peppermint tea bags to add texture and extra scent.

All done!

Mix and knead for 2–3 minutes until the dough is smooth, stretchy, and not sticky. Then play!

Tips for Storing Peppermint Tea Playdough

Store your peppermint tea playdough in an airtight container or zip-top bag to keep it soft and the minty scent fresh. If it starts to dry out, knead in a few drops of water to bring it back.
