Construction Alphabet Sensory Bin

This Construction alphabet sensory bin is great for children learning to recognize letters. I love how easy it is to put together and enjoy. There are so many different ways you can do this craft, but the main idea is simple: have letters available for kids to interact with, some “dirt”, and their favorite little construction vehicle.

How to Make a Construction Alphabet Sensory Bin

Step 1: Make the dirt

Fill your blender with Nilla wafers and blend until fine, then add the crumbs to the bin. Any cookie works, or try a mini sandbox if you’d like to skip the food.

Step 2: Make the letter beans

Use a permanent marker to write one letter on each lima bean, then add them to the bin. Flat stones work too.

Step 3: Add the vehicles

Add your child’s favorite construction vehicles for digging and hauling letters. Put everything together and talk about what they can do with it. It’s a great chance to talk about the alphabet and construction vehicles, and to build CVC words with the letters.

All done!

Your sensory bin is ready for play!
