Polar Bear Craft Stick Project
What’s black and white and adorable all over? No, not a penguin…though fair guess. It’s our latest winter craft: a polar bear made from popsicle sticks, googly eyes, and pure chilly charm.
This polar bear craft stick project is simple enough for preschoolers, cute enough for classroom displays, and easy enough to pull off even when your glue stick mysteriously disappears mid-craft (you know the one). It’s a great way to bring some snowy fun indoors, no mittens required.

Polar Bear Craft Stick Project
Make this adorable winter polar bear craft using popsicle sticks and simple supplies! A fun, easy Arctic-themed project for kids perfect for cold-weather creativity.
Materials
- Popsicle sticks
- White paint
- Black paint
- Glue stick
- Pen marker
- Cardboard
- Black construction paper
- Googly eyes
Tools
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
Instructions
- Gather your supplies.
- Line up four popsicle sticks and glue them together side-by-side. Break a fifth stick in half and glue the pieces across the back to keep everything stable.
- Paint the whole front white and let it dry like your sanity depends on it.
- Mix white and black paint until you get a nice soft gray. Paint a rounded gray shape onto the white base. This will be the polar bear's body. No need to be exact, but if your bear ends up looking like it sat in a snowbank, you’re on the right track.
- Cut out a small oblong shape from black construction paper for the nose. Once the paint is dry (seriously, wait for it), glue that little snout into place.
- Stick on your googly eyes. Then grab your pen and draw on the mouth. A smile, a smirk, or a full-on growl - it’s your bear, your rules.
- Cut four small cardboard circles - two for the ears and two for the paws. Glue the ears to the top and the paws to the bottom.
- Use your paintbrush to add little paw details on the cardboard. Dots, ovals, even hearts if your bear’s feeling sweet today.
- Step back and admire your chilly new friend. Extra credit if you give it a name like “Captain Fluffyfeet” or “Blizzard Bob.”

More Fun with Your Polar Bear Craft
Want to make the most of your wintery masterpiece? Here are some playful ways to keep the fun going:
1. Build a polar habitat scene: Add your bear to an Arctic background, maybe with a popsicle stick igloo, some cotton ball snow, or a few penguin buddies (we forgive you for guessing penguin earlier).
2. Polar bear science tie-in: Learn about where real polar bears live, what they eat, and why their fur isn’t actually white. (Fun fact: it’s transparent!)
3. Storytime pairing: Read a book like “Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?” or “If I Were a Polar Bear” and let your craft join the storytelling action.
4. Classroom display fun: Have a whole group make their own polar bears, each with different facial expressions or accessories. Suddenly you’ve got a bear brigade.
