Pirate Handprint Craft
There is something magical about pirates. Maybe it’s the hats, maybe it’s the treasure maps, maybe it’s the fact that they basically live on boats and never brush their hair. Either way, if your kiddo loves to say “AARRRGH!” at full volume (and let’s be honest, most do), this pirate handprint craft is gonna be a hit.
It’s the kind of project that gets those tiny scissors working, helps with gluing practice, and turns an ordinary piece of paper into a swashbuckling sidekick you’ll want to keep on the fridge forever.
So roll up your sleeves, grab your first mate, and let’s craft ourselves a little pirate magic!

- Attach the black eye patch diagonally across the pirate’s face.

- Use black paper to add a hook hand and black glove at the end of one finger.
- Draw a black circle in the center of the white eye for a pupil.
- Add a stitched mouth using your black marker to give your pirate a tough-guy grin.
- Let everything dry and give your pirate a jaunty little tilt. He’s ready to sail the seven seas!

Make It a Whole Pirate Adventure
Don’t stop with just the craft. Build a whole pirate day around it! Here are some ideas to keep the fun going:
- Read pirate stories like How I Became a Pirate or Pirates Love Underpants (because of course they do).
- Make a treasure map from brown paper and hide a snack somewhere in the house.
- Talk like a pirate for as long as you can stand it. “Avast! Ye be cleanin’ up them toys or walkin’ the plank!”
The craft is just the start! Lean into the theme and you’ll turn a slow afternoon into a swashbuckling memory your child won’t forget.
