Struggling with Perfectionism in Your TpT Store?
If you’ve been stuck in an endless cycle of tweaking and perfecting your TpT products, you’re not alone.
For a long time, I thought the answer was making every product absolutely perfect—because that’s what my brain told me to do– Make sure everything is perfect, or they'll realize you're a giant fraud, and they'll never buy your garbage again.
But no matter how much effort I put in, it felt like I was working harder, not smarter, and it was never enough. It was just another way to procrastinate. Because I was scared that my products and my ideas weren't good enough.
Then, I made one simple shift: Instead of focusing on perfection, I put my energy into listing more products faster—and suddenly, everything started falling into place. I didn't have time to agonize over what was good enough, and instead I could just list.
Here’s why this works, how you can make the shift, and what results to expect when you do.
Why Focusing on Perfection Might Be Keeping You Stuck
Many TpT sellers believe perfection is the key to success, but in reality, it often leads to:
🚩 Never actually listing products – You keep tweaking instead of publishing, because really, when will it actually be good enough?
🚩 Burnout and frustration – The time and energy spent nitpicking details doesn’t always translate to more sales. Especially if you finally do hit publish, and there are crickets.
🚩 Lost momentum – Instead of building a shop with a variety of resources, you spend weeks on one thing, then who knows how long overanalyzing why it hasn't made a bajillion dollars yet.
The problem isn’t that perfection is completely wrong—it’s that it’s not achievable, or the most effective focus for long-term results.
The Power of Listing More Products
Instead of pouring your energy into endless revisions, shifting your focus to batching your products allows you to:
✨ Increase your chances of making sales – More products = more opportunities for customers to see your products and buy.
✨ Learn what sells faster – You’ll get real data on what teachers actually want instead of guessing based on things you've heart.
✨ Build a shop that works for you – More listings create more passive income potential.
When I'm feeling stuck, I've found the best solution is just to act. Do the thing. If I'm not sure a product is perfect, I just list it. Eventually, you'll find a rhythm, and you'll find what you like. You can always go back and change things later.
Done is better than perfect.

How to Shift Your Focus to Listing More in 3 Simple Steps
Step 1: Identify What’s Not Working
Before you can improve, you need to assess where perfectionism is holding you back. For me, it was endlessly researching ideas, and never actually implementing.
Ask yourself:
✔️ How many products have I actually listed in the past month?
✔️ Do I feel stuck in endless revisions instead of making progress?
✔️ Am I focusing on small details that don’t impact my sales?
If any of these apply, it’s a sign that perfectionism isn’t the best use of your energy.

Step 2: Shift Your Strategy to Listing More
Instead of doubling down on perfection, start focusing on getting your products listed by:
✔️ Using templates – This speeds up your creation process and keeps your products consistent.
✔️ Setting deadlines – Give yourself a time limit to finish and move on.
✔️ Accepting “good enough” – If the product helps teachers and students, it’s ready to go!
I always imagine “good enough” being 85%. If it's 85% perfect, it's good enough for all of your buyers. Remember, they're going to give you feedback if something is wrong, and then you can show them how receptive you are to problems, and fixing things by quickly fixing anything that comes up.
Also, remember that those big companies who make textbooks for the classroom make mistakes, too. They're allowed to do that, and we all just live with it. If they're allowed, why aren't you?
Think about how listing more can create better results without the struggle of perfectionism.
Step 3: Track Your Progress & Adjust as Needed
Once you’ve made the shift, don't forget to check in and see how it's going.
✔️ Measure your results – Are you listing more and seeing an increase in sales?
✔️ Listen to feedback – What’s working well? What needs adjusting?
✔️ Stay flexible – Be willing to tweak your process as you learn what sells.
Making the switch to listing more products isn’t about instant perfection—it’s about creating a smoother, smarter path to success, and breaking out of perfection.
What Happens When You Start Listing More?
When you move from perfectionism to listing more products, you’ll notice:
💡 Less stress – You’re working on what actually matters– or at least learning.
💡 More momentum – Progress happens more naturally, an object in motion stays in motion.
💡 Better results – You’re no longer wasting effort on things that don’t move the needle.
This small but powerful shift changed everything for me, and if you’ve been struggling with perfectionism, it could be the missing piece for you, too.
