Why Sell on TpT, Etsy, or Your Blog Shop?
Selling on TpT, Etsy, or your own blog gives you the chance to earn money while sharing your creative work. These platforms are flexible, accessible, and perfect for educators looking to supplement their income. Plus, it feels awesome to see your resources helping other teachers and students!
Listing Products: The Main Event
Today, we're focusing on how to list products on TpT. During the summer, it can be tough to find the time, so let's learn how to get those products listed!
Shop Image Creation in PowerPoint
Alright, let's get started!
Choosing a Product
Iโm going to list these “colors posters.” Ready? Let's go!
Opening and Preparing Templates
First, open a copy of your template in PowerPoint. Right-click the file and select “open a copy.” This keeps your original template safe and sound.
Setting Up the Canvas Size
Go to the Design Tab, then Slide Size, and finally Custom Slide Size. Set the dimensions to 2000 x 2000 pixels. This size works great for shop images.
Creating a Border
- Insert a square shape to cover the entire slide.
- Format Shape > Fill > No Fill.
- Go to Line > Solid Line and choose a color.
Pick a color that goes with your product's theme.
Adding a Title and Theme
Add the name of your theme (e.g., “Watercolor Theme”) and the product type (e.g., “Colors Posters”). Using theme colors makes customization easy!
Showcasing the Product
Insert examples of the color posters onto the shop image. Make sure they look good!
Adding Visual Elements
Use arrows and other shapes to point out important details. Find block arrows in the shapes window. Complementary colors make the arrows pop!

Mock-Ups: Yay or Nay?
Should you use mock-ups? Sometimes! It depends on the product and your style. A clean white background can look great, too!
Key Elements of Effective Shop Images
- Show different ways to use the product.
- Highlight key features.
- Use bold text to emphasize important info.
- Mention the preview!
Saving Shop Images
- First, save the PowerPoint file.
- Then, save each slide as a JPEG image. File > Save As > JPEG > All Slides.
Preview Creation in PowerPoint
The Importance of a Dedicated Preview
Your preview should be different from your shop images. This gives buyers a better sense of what theyโre getting.
Template Customization
- Start with a bright color background.
- Add product images to every page.
Preview Layout and Design
Make each page look different! Add interactive elements, like checkboxes.
What to Include in Your Preview
- Introduction: A brief introduction of the product and its benefits.
- Features: Highlight key selling points.
- Visuals: Show examples of the posters in action.
- Call to Action: Encourage people to buy!
Showcasing What's Included
Use a visually appealing layout to display all the colors. Scrambling the elements can create a dynamic look.
Adding Reviews
Add positive reviews to build trust. Duplicate a page to feature a glowing review. But only if you have reviews. If you don't, skip this part and come back when you do.
Creating Clickable Links
Create a “Grab the Bundle” call to action with a link to the product. You can even link the entire image. I do this by using FlatPack to easily flatten everything EXCEPT what I want to be clickable.
Using Power Pack for Image Replacement
Use Power Pack to efficiently replace images in the preview.
Saving the Preview
- Save the PowerPoint file.
- Use Flat Pack to create a flattened PDF version.
