Learning Under the Tundra Tent

This isn't just a craft, it's a jumping-off point for some Arctic exploration! While you’re gluing and giggling, sprinkle in a few of these fun walrus facts:

  • Walruses use their tusks to climb out of icy water! They’re not for fighting, they’re like built-in ice picks.
  • They’re super social. Walruses love to snuggle together in giant herds called haulouts.
  • Their whiskers are serious tools. Called vibrissae, those face fuzzies help walruses feel around the seafloor for food.

You can even turn this into a mini unit: read a walrus-themed book, watch a short nature clip, or try an arctic playdough tray for some sensory exploration that keeps little hands busy and brains engaged.
