Supplies Needed for Gummy Bear Slime
This is one of the most fun slimes I've ever had, and I promise your kids are going to be insanely excited about this, so make sure you have everything together ahead of time so you don't have a case of the . . . wild child excited about sugar.
- Gummy Bears – The base of your slime, and star of the show. I like to separate them.
- Sugar – Because you need more sugar for your sugar, just trust me.
- Corn Starch – Because your sugar is going to be really sugary, so it needs a little stability.
It's a really simple recipe that will allow your littles to explore in a way they weren't expecting.
Tools You’ll Need
You will need a few tools on hand to make this go smoothly.
- Bowl and Spoon – Your tools for mixing the sticky before it turns magical. Make sure this one is microwave safe.
- Microwave – This is an important piece to the puzzle, but if you wanted to use a double boiler, or crock pot as a double boiler, that will work as well.
- Measuring Cups and Spoons – Accuracy counts when it comes to slime-making.

Tips for the Best Gummy Bear Slime Experience
One-time play: Because it's edible (and sticky!) this slime is meant for same-day fun. Snap a few pictures to capture the magic before it’s gone!
Work carefully with hot candy: Melted gummy bears can get really hot straight out of the microwave. Make sure an adult is handling the bowls and stirring at first.
Go slow with the powdered sugar: It’s tempting to add a lot at once, but too much sugar can make your slime stiff instead of stretchy. Add just a little at a time!
Knead, knead, knead: If the slime feels sticky, kneading it with your hands will help smooth it out and make it super stretchy.
Reheat if needed: If your gummy bear slime starts to harden during play, pop it back in the microwave for about 10 seconds and it’ll be good as new.
Fun Ways to Use Gummy Bear Slime
This edible slime isn’t just fun to make — it opens up tons of creative play ideas! Here are a few ways to make it even more magical:
Themed Play: Make slime in your favorite holiday colors — red and green for Christmas, orange and black for Halloween, pastels for Easter! You can usually find a fun color combo around each season.
Color Sorting: Separate and melt different gummy bear colors for a full rainbow of slime.
Learning Activities: Practice color names, sorting, or fine motor skills while stretching and pulling the slime.
Safety Tips and Cleanup Advice
Playing with edible slime is as exciting as it sounds, but it’s important to balance all that fun with safety and practicality.
By taking a few precautions and setting up a good plan for cleanup, you can ensure everyone focuses on the edible fun instead of accidental hiccups.
Ensuring Safe Play
Making and playing with edible slime can be super fun and overstimulating, especially for kids. However, given some of the ingredients (and heat!) involved, a little caution goes a long way.
Here’s how you can keep things safe for everyone:
- Supervise Playtime: ALWAYS supervise children while they’re making or playing with slime. The hot gummy bears can cause issues if handled improperly.
- Designate a Safe Area: Keep the activity in a space that’s easy to clean, like a kitchen table lined with a protective cover or a craft area. It minimizes stress for you and mess for your home.
- Know Ingredients: Review the ingredients list for potential allergens. If your child has sensitive skin or allergies, double-check to ensure nothing will trigger a reaction.
Cleaning and Storage
Once the fun winds down, it’s time to clean up. This edible slime is one time use, so there should be no storage.
Don’t worry—this part doesn’t have to be a chore. A few simple steps can save you a headache later.
- Wipe Surfaces Immediately: If slime lands on your table, walls, or floors, wipe it up right away with a damp cloth. Tackle it quickly before it dries to avoid leaving stubborn residue.
- Use White Vinegar for Residues: For areas where the slime stubbornly sticks (like your favorite rug—yes, it happens), a little white vinegar can work magic. Apply a small amount with a clean rag and gently rub the residue away.
- Small Tools, Big Difference: Plastic scrapers work wonders for nudging stuck-on slime off non-porous surfaces. Just be gentle to avoid scratches.
- Trash Disposal: Never wash leftover slime or glue down the sink! It can clog your drains. Instead, toss excess into the trash.
The best advice? Don’t let the messiness overshadow the fun. By staying prepared, you can wrap up slimy playtime in the easiest way possible.
